Our 1-hour tour leads you through our outside gardens and into 2 greenhouses. Each represents a distinct habitat for Costa Rica’s butterflies; an open field/garden and the jungle. In each greenhouse you’ll learn about the different species that call that habitat home and why, as well as other fun and interesting facts about these tropical butterflies. In our jungle greenhouse you’ll learn about the jungle-dwelling butterflies such as; the owl butterfly, the stunning blue morpho, and the malachite butterflies. In our garden greenhouse you see (and hear) the cracker butterflies, as well as the King’s swallowtail and the Sulphur butterflies. The tour finishes with a trip into our laboratories where you’ll get an up-close view of the different life stages of a butterfly and learn about the process of butterfly production. Walking in between the greenhouses and laboratories you’ll be immersed in the sights and sounds of the Cabo Blanco jungle. You’re likely to see many different species of birds, including hummingbirds, motmots, and woodpeckers. You may also experience other jungle wildlife, such as monkeys, lizards, pizotes, giant toads, and more!

*Please note that we currently do not have phone service at the butterfly farm due to our remote jungle location, though the municipality is working on getting us connected. We apologize in advance for delayed response times for phone calls, messages and emails. Also, please consider this when booking a tour and try to book well in advance to ensure availability of your preferred day and time. Thank you.
